# Cursor

Add the Sai MCP server to Cursor.

Cursor reads MCP servers from `.cursor/mcp.json` in a project or `~/.cursor/mcp.json` for every project.

## Install

Create or edit `~/.cursor/mcp.json`:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "sai": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@simular-ai/sai-mcp"],
      "env": {
        "SAI_API_KEY": "sapi_..."
      }
    }
  }
}
```

Open Cursor Settings, then MCP, and confirm `sai` shows its tools.

## Verify

In Agent mode:

```
Use Sai to open Excel on my computer and create a sheet with the months of the year in column A.
```

Cursor asks before each tool call unless you enable auto-run for the `sai` server.

## Tools and loop

The tool set and the start, wait, approve loop are the same as in [Claude Code](/documentation/coding-agents/claude-code#tools).

## Gotchas

- Cursor has no equivalent of Claude Code channels, so there is no push mode. The agent polls through `sai_task_wait`.
- Put the key in `~/.cursor/mcp.json`, not the project file, so it is never committed.
- Link-only approvals (Google connect, site passwords, phone verification) come back as `approval_url`. Open it in your browser, then let the agent call `sai_task_wait` again.
- `sai_task_wait` retries a gateway `502`, `503` or `504` on its own before reporting an error.
- Each task comes with a live view of the computer's screen. See [Watch Sai work](/documentation/coding-agents/live-view).
